Full-time position to do building inspections and review building plans for new and existing buildings, issue permits, and enforce all City, State and Federal codes, and local ordinances.   Qualified applicants must possess at a minimum current Commercial and Residential certifications/credentials for State of Wisconsin.  Electric, plumbing and HVAC certifications desirable.  


Starting salary $31.53-$33.45/hour, depending upon number of certifications held, with excellent benefits. This full-time position performs skilled inspection work to ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal codes.  The inspector will conduct inspections in the following disciplines, UDC Building, Electric, HVAC, and Plumbing plus Commercial Building.  Although some new or difficult situations are referred to a superior, an employee in this position must regularly exercise technical judgment, interpretation, and discretion based on familiarity with the various regulations and ordinances which they are responsible for enforcing. During office hours, the inspector will assist contractors, homeowners, and others at the counter and on the phone.  An Inspector is also expected to occasionally attend Architectural Board and Zoning Board of Appeals meetings to provide adequate information to enable these boards to make sound decisions.
